Coldplay chart triumph is over

COLDPLAY’s transatlantic chart triumph has been short-lived.

Earlier this week the rockers occupied the top spots in both the singles and
album charts in America and Britain — a feat only seven acts in chart
history can claim.

But now KATY PERRY — who is billed as America’s answer to LILY
ALLEN but actually sounds more like PINK — has ended their reign
at the top of the US Billboard charts with her track I Kissed A Girl.

And in the UK, treacly R’n’B singer NE-YO is ahead in the
midweek sales figures for Sunday’s singles chart.
