Dr. Dres Detox Finally Coming Out, Thanks to Branding Opportunity

According to a press release yesterday from Drinks Americas Holdings, a beverage company that has a deal with Universal Music, Dr. Dre's long-delayed album Detox will purportedly arrive in stores sometime in the next 60 days, supposedly to coincide with the debut of a Dre-branded line of cognacs and sparkling vodkas. "These products are to be introduced in coordination with the launch of Dr. Dre's long-awaited Detox album, and will be supported by a fully integrated marketing program with the performer and his record company," says the release. We guess this will be sort of like how Jay-Z's 2006 comeback album Kingdom Come was really just an excuse to hawk Budweiser Select in the album's videos.
Or like how the alleged upcoming release of Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy will be tied to the marketing campaign for Rock Band 2. Anyway, we're excited for Detox and we can again thank lucrative endorsement deals for coaxing another semi-retired music superstar back into the recording studio!
